The Pasadena

In the middle of demolition, Dave noticed that the framing in the oldest part of the house was labeled and marked with measurements.








It turns out that the original house was built from a kit made by the Aladdin Company, based in Bay City, Michigan, and active from 1906 to 1987.


Our house is the 1951 version of the Pasadena model. You can see the name on the rafter in the photo below.

Here is the floor plan and an illustration of the house. Note the atomic mom and child in the yard. Ours is plan no. 1, reversed, with the living room/dining room on the right instead of left as you look at the front of the home. It didn't have the picture window featured in the illustration—buyers could customize the kits to a limited extent.


The kit parts ended up in the same place they were delivered 62 years ago: stacked in the yard—this time awaiting reuse in someone else's home.
